SUPPORTED PROJECTS
IN LIGHT OF CORONAVÍRUS
The impacts of the arrival of the Coronavirus pandemic in the city of Rio de Janeiro are already being felt. And they will be intensified in the coming months, mostly in slums located in areas with a lower HDI and little to none presence of NGOs and State-backed support projects. Thousands of families will be affected, as well as young people with low scholarship that rely on informal employment.
Committed in promoting elements that will help easing this crisis, Agência – Redes para Juventude has created a project that will work closely with the youth in 10 areas of the great Pavuna-Northern and Western Zones, mainly in the Santa Cruz, Vila Kennedy and Batan communities, acting in four fronts of actions.
Saving Lifes project
“Saving Lifes” project, founded by Benfeitoria, is a fundraising campaign with the main purpose of buying protective materials for those on the front lines of philanthropic hospitals in Brazil (+ 50% SUS). Besides the importance and the urgency of this cause, it is an opportunity for collaboration, as the BNDES will double all support received in the campaign. The goal is to reach R$ 100 million reais.
Campaign Coronavirus in Maré
The Campaign is a Redes da Maré initiative, designed to take in place in a three-month period, from March to May. It features some institutional partnerships, such as Ekloos for the movement Rio Contra o Corona, 342 Artes, Grupo Ação Impacto, Urbanists Against Corona and Welight, as well as organizations that act in the area, such as Luta pela Paz, Observatório de Favelas, Uerê, Coletivo Maré Vive, Resident’s Associations and others, and individual donors. Donations can include food, personal hygiene and cleaning itens and financial resources.
PROJECT Riocontracorona
Rio Contra Corona is a social action managed by 3 trustworthy organizations in Rio de Janeiro: Banco da Providência, Ekloos Institute and Phi Institute. It was born from an articulation of the União Rio movement, which is currently holding several fronts to minimize the impacts of coronavirus.
Its top priority lies in the urgency of delivering basic itens for coronavirus prevention to its acting communiting, as well as forthcoming demands.
PROJECT AGÊNCIA Redes para a juventude
This NGO applies a methodology that motivates young people between the ages 15-29, who live in the suburbs and slums, to convert ideas into intervention projects in their areas. Agência offers the possibility of the creation of a new space for the youth living in popular communities in Rio. With a direct financial backing from the Grupo, worth R$ 30.000,00, we are supporting 50 participants from different favelas for the project to be held in the second half of 2019. We hope that our contribution allows for the reinvention of a new site in the city, where these youngsters are standouts, and not just as a portrait of a person in need. Where they are recognized as creators, and not just subjects of social causes.
